Excitement builds at Sutter Health Park with new upgrades
Fans at Sutter Health Park are in for a treat this season, with exciting upgrades that include improved scoreboards and enhanced lighting. These changes had baseball fans buzzing at Sunday night's Rivercats exhibition game against the San Francisco Giants.
"I think it's going to attract more people and be a place where a lot more memories are made," said Jim Pevy, a devoted baseball fan attending a game with his son.
One major highlight fueling the excitement is the arrival of the Athletics in Sacramento. Fans are thrilled at the prospect of seeing a mix of River Cats and A’s games.
"It’s going to be double the baseball, double the fun — more chances to see your favorite players," Pevy said.
Fellow fan Michael Gygax echoed the enthusiasm as he wore his A's baseball cap to Sunday's game.
"How can it not be when the River Cats play during the day and the A’s play at night? The place will be packed — the parking, the food, the beer, all of it," Gygax said.
Sunday's game allowed fans to get their first look at the multimillion-dollar upgrades made to prepare for the Athletics’ season. The redesigned field and new features left fans impressed.
"The field looks amazing. They ripped it all out and redid it. It’s incredible," said Robert Roati.
Updates also include new technology that allows fans to view instant replays on the scoreboard, bringing major league-level perks to Sutter Health Park.
Sunday’s sold-out game has fueled further anticipation among fans.
"I’ve already bought tickets for five or six A’s games," Roati said, adding that season ticket demand has surged to the point of selling out.
Others, like Gygax, are planning ahead to make it a family experience.
"It’ll be super fun to bring my kids and give them the same A’s experience I had growing up," Gygax said.
As the excitement continues to build, fans eagerly anticipate the start of a new era at Sutter Health Park.
"This is a great opportunity for Sacramento. We’re selling out seats, and this season is going to be fantastic for the A’s," Gygax said.
Some other upgrades include a new state-of-the-art clubhouse, which will have a dedicated player training and recovery center.
