Whether you’re looking for Mother’s Day music, high harmonies or just songs about getting high, there’s something for you to do this weekend.

1. 1957 Fargo Tornado Book Talk

Today

More than 60 years after a twister ripped through north Fargo, killing 12 and destroying 300 homes, the tragic event is remembered as one of Fargo's worst disasters. A new book, "1957 Fargo Tornado", looks at the deadly storm. The authors read from and discuss their project from 3:30 to 5 p.m., today, at the NDSU Archives, 3551 7th Ave., N., Fargo. The event is free and open to the public; anyone who remembers the catastrophe or knows someone who does can sign up to be interviewed.

2. Afroman

Today

In his 2001 hit "Because I Got High," Afroman lists off the negative effects smoking dope has had on his life. The joke is on anyone who believes it because the Grammy-nominated tune has kept the rapper on the road ever since. The singer returns to the Aquarium, 226 Broadway, Fargo, tonight for another round of rap and soul. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. with tickets for this ID-only show $20 in advance or $25 the day of the show.

3. Metro Quilt Expo

Friday & Saturday

Perhaps it's the warmth they provide or the fact that the Indian Summer Quilt Show was such a September staple, but quilts have always seemed like a fall or winter fixture. The Quilters' Guild of North Dakota is heating things up this week with the Metro Quilt Expo. From 9 a.m to 6 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, at the Ramada Fargo, 3333 13th Ave., S., Fargo, fabric fans can check out hundreds of quilts, from traditional designs to modern styles, see the best in regional stitching and visit vendors. Tickets are $5, free for children under 12.

4. Home Free

Saturday

Vocal band and "The Sing-Off" winners, Home Free returns to the Fargo Civic Center, 207 4th St., N., Saturday night for another evening of harmonies and hijinks. The quintet is touring behind last year's "Timeless," featuring covers of Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill", Tom Cochrane's "Life is a Highway" and Blake Shelton's "Hillbilly Bone". Expect some fun covers, like John Michael Montgomery's "Sold!" and the Oak Ridge Boys' "Elvira". Music starts at 7:30 p.m. with tickets ranging from $27.50 to $84.50. https://jadepresents.com , (866) 300-8300.

5. Mother's Day Recital

Sunday

How do you mark Mother's Day? Do you take her out for breakfast or dinner? Maybe she likes to go fishing. Or maybe she wants some quiet time to herself. All of that is fine, but if your love for her is like a song, bring her down to First Lutheran Church, 619 Broadway, N., Fargo, for a special Mother's Day Recital. Dakota Brass Quintet opens the afternoon at 3 p.m. with Jean Mouret's "Rondeau". For the next hour or so, the horns and organist Michael Olson will play everything moms would like from Bach to The Beatles. The event is free, but there is a freewill offering for the Global Mission Program at the church.
