Tornado Warnings, Storm Damage In Northeast Oklahoma

<p>A limited severe weather threat in northeast Oklahoma overnight with the primary concerns being heavy rainfall with possible flash flooding.</p>

Severe weather warnings have expired in Green Country as a damaging line of storms moves out of the state.  Circulation spun up as a line of storms moved through northeast Oklahoma.

Interstate 44 is closed at 41st and Sheridan after a large overhead sign fell down onto the highway, OHP reports.

Road closures are at:

  • 41st and Harvard
  • 41st and Sheridan
  • 61st between 225th and Oneta

Strong storms moved through Osage County and Pawnee counties with strong winds, torrential rain and lots of lightning Saturday night.

A flash flood watch remains in effect for northeast Oklahoma through Sunday afternoon.

Rain and storms will slowly taper off mid-morning Sunday. More scattered storms may flare up again Sunday afternoon with a very low risk of them being severe.

The flash flood watch is for Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Wagoner, Osage, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware, Nowata, Ottawa and Washington counties. The NWS-Tulsa issued the following alert:

  • Watch for flooded roads if out driving 
  • Do not drive through flooded areas
  • River levels will likely rise
